We recently embarked on a project to clean up our Base of old and unwanted waste, from surplus furniture to broken chairs, old analogue televisions, boxes of recyclable paper waste and general rubbish. This was also an opportunity to set up our merchandise space in a more organised fashion and “spruce” up our reception area.
This project was realized after Mirvac’s Design & Development Division contacted our base to offer a day of volunteer help as part of Mirvac’s “Community Day” initiative. A team of wonderful volunteer employees & sub-contractors headed up by Jennifer De Cean arrived on site in La Perouse bright and early to begin the process of constructing scaffolding so the walls in the reception stairwell could receive a fresh coat of paint. Soon after, a skip arrived and the team went about dismantling old furniture and carrying many loads of rubbish, which soon filled up – and through much generosity, Mirvac then organised a 2nd skip!
A disused storage room in our upstairs administration area was emptied and new racking and shelving was installed, once again thanks to Mirvac for arranging this to be donated. This room now houses a well organised merchandise space, and area to keep all of our banners and other marketing and fundraising equipment. Our reception area now has a freshly painted stairwell, which will soon house a brand new company sign and some canvas images celebrating our past, present & future.
We sincerely thank Mirvac’s volunteer employees and suppliers for the generous donation of their time, materials, patience and our bright new spaces!
