On Monday 16th January the UK Warrington Wolves Rugby League Club joined the Westpac Life Saver Helicopter Rescue crew at Maroubra Beach for an intense training session, Aussie style.

The Westpac Life Saver crew put the Wolves through a rigorous endurance test starting with a 2km beach run including push-ups and sit ups. The Wolves then showed locals their swimming ability with an ocean swim in rough conditions combined with a beach sprint, each of them needing to complete the course twice. Then were then split into 2 groups to complete a swim and run relay. The training proved exceptionally challenging even at their level of fitness.

During the afternoon the Warrington Wolves joined the Westpac Life Saver crew for a tour of the Westpac Life Saver base, a presentation highlighting the important emergency service work undertaken by the crew and a winch simulation so they can see how someone is rescued. They ended the day with a traditional Aussie BBQ.

The Westpac Life Saver thanks everyone at the Warrington Wolves who made the day a huge success.
