Rescue Base Open Day

“On behalf of everyone at the Westpac Life Saver Helicopter Rescue Service, we would like to sincerely thank all the emergency services that participated on the day, the many local businesses that donated goods and services, the volunteers that gave their time and Sydney Buses for providing the free shuttle bus service. With their support and the community’s generosity we raised $6,500. These funds will be added to the appeal for a new aircraft winch at a cost of $200,000.
We opened our gates at 10.00am and welcomed the community to see displays and demonstrations by a number of emergency services including NSW Police, Fire and Rescue, Surf Lifesaving NSW, Ambulance Service of NSW, Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue and many more. There were action packed demonstrations throughout the day including simulated helicopter winch rescues, the Australian Federal Police Canine Unit and the Police Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit’s “bomb robot”.
The Rescue Base Open Day was a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and meet the people behind each service and learn firsthand about the vital role each sector plays in the community.
Once again, thank you”.
