Westpac Life Saver Pilots each have an excess of 3,000 hours flying experience. The Chief Pilot is responsible for operational management. In addition to the standard skill requirements for licensed pilots they are experienced in Instrument Flight Rules flying, sling-load carriage, over water operations and winching.

Air Crew
Westpac Life Saver Air Crew are experienced in aviation search and rescue and lifesaving and resuscitation. They are responsible for a variety of tasks including pre-flight inspections, mission planning, coordination of SAR and retrieval missions, rescue and emergency equipment, assisting with take-off and landing, communication operations, helicopter rescue hoist operation, rescue functions and ensuring the safety of personnel in and around the helicopter.

Rescue Crew
Westpac Life Saver Rescue Crew are the front line for operations. Their duties include winch cable rescues in water, on the side of a cliff or a rock ledge. Crew are traditionally members of Surf Life Saving Australia and are highly qualified in search and rescue, emergency care, spinal management, resuscitation and radio communication.

Engineers
Rescue helicopters require constant maintenance and need the latest equipment and technology to ensure our crew and pilots perform at their best. Engines require a major overhaul at least every 4500 hours. Our engineers provide ongoing and scheduled maintenance to both aircraft.
